Seddon Earthquakes
Historically, earthquakes have been recorded as occurring in Marlborough region since 1848. However, from 2013, Seddon has been rocked by few quakes occurring in Seddon and nearby areas.
On 21 July 2013, Seddon was rocked by massive earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale at a depth of 17kms
On 16 August 2013, Seddon was rocked by another earthquake centred at Lake Grassmere about 10 km south which measured 6.6 on the Richter scale.
On 14 November 2016, Seddon was rocked by another earthquake centred at Kaikoura, about 100km south and measured 7.8 on the Richter scale.
